FOR THE PERSON BEING MONITORED

What your employer can and cannot see.

Your company has linked, or is about to link, a company-owned WhatsApp number to WAOversight. This page is what that actually means for you. We wrote it for you, not for the person who bought it.

WAOversight records the WhatsApp messages sent to and from a company-owned number your employer has linked. It does not touch your personal WhatsApp, your phone, your location or any other app. Every time a manager opens your conversations, a row is written to an access log that nobody can edit or switch off.

THE SHORT VERSION

What is recorded, and what is not.

What a linked company number does and does not expose. This table describes the product's behaviour, not a policy setting: there is no configuration that changes the right-hand column.

THE ACCESS LOG

Every look is recorded, with who and when.

Every time somebody opens one of your conversations, searches them, looks at a photo in them, or exports them, a row like these is written.

It is written before the data is returned, so a manager cannot read a conversation without the row appearing. There is no setting that turns it off, and nobody can delete an entry, including us.

You do not read this log from your own account. Your workspace owner and any auditor your company brings in do. If you want to know who has been looking, ask for it, and know that what you are shown cannot have been quietly edited first.

Why your employer is doing this

Usually one of three reasons: a customer complained that nobody replied, someone left and took the relationships with them, or a discount was given that nobody agreed to. All three are about the company's customers and the company's numbers, not about you personally.

It is worth knowing that the same record protects you. When a customer says they were promised a delivery date you never gave them, the conversation is there. When a manager says they never received an update, the message is there with a timestamp on it.

If your employer uses AI assessments

Your employer can switch on AI assessments. When it is on, customer conversations on the company number that match your employer's CRM are read by an AI model from DeepSeek, so a manager can see which customers are still waiting and which promises are due.

  • It does not score you. It points at conversations, and each thing it finds quotes the message it came from, so a manager can check it against what was actually said.
  • It cannot send anything from your number, and it never writes replies for anyone.
  • It can be wrong. A promise you kept by phone can still show as overdue until someone resolves it.
  • Every reading is written to the access log before it happens, the same as a manager opening your conversation. Before a scheduled reading, phone numbers, email addresses and links are replaced, and messages are labeled only rep or customer.

What we think is fair, and what we refuse to build

We only work on company-owned numbers. There is no version of this product that runs on a personal number, and no mode that hides itself from the person being monitored. We do not build stealth features, we do not remove the access log, and we will not add a way to send messages from your number.

If your employer told you this was installed on your personal phone, or that reading your chats leaves no trace, that is not what this product does. Every read is written to a log that nobody can edit.

What to ask your employer

  • Which numbers are linked, and is the one I use one of them?
  • Who at the company can read my conversations, and can I see the list?
  • Will you show me the access log for my own conversations if I ask?
  • How long is the history kept?
  • Is there a written policy I can read, and have I acknowledged it?

In most jurisdictions, monitoring a company-owned number requires that staff are told in writing. Your employer should have a written policy. Ask to see it.

QUESTIONS REPS ASK

Straight answers

Can my employer read my personal WhatsApp?

No. WAOversight only sees the company-owned number your employer linked. Your personal number is a separate WhatsApp account on a separate device and nothing about it reaches this product.

Is there a record when a manager reads my conversations?

Yes. Every time anyone opens a conversation, searches it, views media in it or exports it, a row is written to an access log. Managers cannot switch that off and cannot delete a row from it. The log is read by your workspace owner and by auditors, not from your own account, so ask your employer if you want to see it.

Can I delete a message I sent by mistake?

You can delete it in WhatsApp as normal, and the customer will see it as deleted. Your employer's archive keeps the original, with the time you sent it and the time you removed it. That applies to everyone on the team, including managers.

Does this record my location, my calls, or anything on my phone?

No. It links to the company number the same way WhatsApp Web does and receives the messages sent to and from it. It has no access to your phone, your camera, your location, your ordinary phone calls or any other app. WhatsApp calls on the company number are logged, the way the number's own call list is: who called, whether it connected and for how long. They are never recorded.

Does an AI read my conversations?

Only if your employer switches AI assessments on, and then only customer conversations that match their CRM. Each reading is written to the access log first. It looks for customers left waiting and promises that are due. It does not give you a score, and it cannot send a message.

Can it send messages as me?

No. There is no outbound path in this product. Nobody can send a WhatsApp message from your company number using WAOversight: not your manager, and not us.
