Can your employer see your deleted WhatsApp messages?

On a personal phone, no: nothing an employer runs can read it, and the recovery tricks after the fact mostly fail. On a company-owned number linked to an archive, yes: each message is stored at delivery, a later deletion is recorded as an event beside it, and the original text stays. The link is visible on that phone.
Almost everything written about this question is written for the wrong moment. The pages that rank for it sell recovery: notification-log tricks, backup restores, forensic tools, and all of them answer “it already happened, can I get it back?” If that is where you are, the honest answer is: probably not, and here is exactly when the exceptions apply. If you are asking before it happens, the answer changes completely.
On your personal phone: no
If the number is yours, on a phone you own, your employer has no way in. There is nothing to install that reads a personal WhatsApp account without being a tracker app, and a tracker app on a personal phone is the kind of tool which WhatsApp monitoring software is legal is written to warn you off. Everything below is about a different case: a company-owned number, on a company phone, that your employer has told you is archived.
What deletion actually removes
WhatsApp has 2 deletions. Delete for me removes the message from the deleter’s phone only; the other side still has it. Delete for everyone removes it from both phones, within a time window after sending, and the customer has usually already read it by then, which is what makes the deleted message a commercial problem rather than a technical one. Delete for everyone: the customer already saw it sets out WhatsApp’s time limit and what each side keeps.
Neither deletion reaches anywhere else. That single fact decides everything below: a copy that existed somewhere else before the deletion is untouched by it.
The recovery methods, honestly

None of these is something to run a team on. They are all attempts to reach backwards, and reaching backwards is exactly what deletion is designed to defeat.
The prospective answer
The reliable version works in the other direction. An archive on the company-owned number receives every message the moment it is delivered, using the same companion-device mechanism as WhatsApp Web, and writes it down before anything else happens to it. A deletion that arrives 4 minutes later cannot reach back into that record. It is simply recorded as its own event, next to the original: the text, the time it was sent, and the time it was removed.
That is what deleted message capture does, and it extends to edits, where every earlier version is kept and not just the latest, and to view-once media, stored once captured. Nothing in the archive can be changed or removed by the person who sent it, including managers.
2 limits, stated plainly because the recovery pages never state theirs. Capture starts when the number is linked; a message deleted last month is gone, and no archive changes that. And the archive does not undelete anything on the phones; the customer and the rep still see the message as deleted. Only your record keeps it.
Where the line is
This works on company-owned numbers that your team knows are archived, and they can check: the link shows up on the company phone under WhatsApp’s own linked-devices list, the same place WhatsApp Web would. It is not, and is not built to be, a way into anyone’s personal phone: there is no app on the rep’s device, no access to their personal WhatsApp, and every manager view of the archive is written to a log that nobody can edit.
Whether and how you may monitor at all depends on where you operate and on the notice you give; written notice to the team is the load-bearing part, not a courtesy. The short version is that a company-owned number with written notice is a different question in law from anything personal, and the personal side stays off limits. Why most deletions still won’t matter
Worth saying, because the recovery pages run on suspicion: most deleted messages are typos, and a tool that treats every deletion as misconduct will waste your time and insult your team. The point of keeping the original is not that deleting is suspicious. It is that when a customer holds you to a price your rep says they never sent, the difference between a record and an argument is whether anyone wrote it down at the time, and by then it is 3 weeks too late to start.
